About joely

Joely Johnson is a Pacific Northwest Visual Storyteller who recently graduated from Western Washington University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Journalism.

Joely found her love for journalism while working as a reporter and photographer for Western’s student publications – The Western Front, Klipsun, and The Planet – and through that experience, decided to pursue it as a career.

Hailing from a small town near the base of Mount St. Helens, Joely is interested in writing about environmental issues and takes inspiration for her work in being outside. She is not only interested in news writing, however. She found the visual journalism program at WWU to fit all of her passions - photography, videography, and design - perfectly into one degree.

Joely enjoys art and is open to trying to work in all mediums, but is particularly passionate about graphic design and finding new ways to create art with the help of technology.
